How do I submit an articulation petition?

Undergraduate students who wish to request a change in the evaluation of a transfer course may submit an articulation petition. The petition process is located on the Course Transfer tab of the student's OASIS account, which can be accessed through the MyUSC portal. The Articulation Petition process will be available to newly admitted students after they attend Orientation and have registered for courses.

Once you complete and submit the Articulation Petition form, you will need to provide supporting documentation for our consideration. All petitions should include the complete course syllabus from the correct term and instructor, including the detailed schedule of topics and assignments.

Petitions for WRIT130 equivalence should include final drafts of all out-of-class analytical writing required of the class.

Petitions for one of the laboratory science GE categories (GE-3, GE-D and GE-E) or equivalence to a USC lab science course, such as BISC120 or 220, CHEM105ab, PHYS151, etc. should include detailed information about both the lecture and lab component of the course. If the lab component had a separate syllabus from the lecture, please include both syllabi.

This represents the minimum documentation required for consideration, but you may include anything else that you feel may support your request for additional credit, including copies of class notes, exams, papers, lab reports, research projects, etc.

Students may petition only courses that are recorded as complete on their Transfer Credit Report (TCR). Courses that have not yet been added to the TCR or courses that appear as In Progress, Incomplete or Unknown (UNK) cannot be petitioned.

Petitions are usually processed within 15 business days of submission, though it may take longer during our busiest periods (such as the end of the summer). Once action has been taken on a petition, you will receive a notification email at your USC email address from transfercredit@usc.edu. Please be sure to check your Spam/Junk mail folder in the event that any email from this office has been routed there. You can also log in to the petition process and click on the specific course in the "Check status of the petitioned course" column. This will display the most recent action taken on your petition. If nothing is displayed, no action has yet been taken. We appreciate your patience during the processing period.
